The urban journal project was a small project conducted along with the Johannesburg studio in 2018, which try to focus on small everyday life and item and decipt urban life.
Cigarette butt is the most common urban trash you can see. You can tell whether a place is under well maintainance base on the amount of cigarette butts. If you can recognize the brand and know the price, there is much more you can tell, for example the social class and income of the people of a place. You can also tell where people chose to gather and relax, based on where there is a concentration of butts.
Smart phones have dramatically changed people’s life. Because of the development of technology, the price of the phone and data goes down.Basically everyone has the same access to the information.When your eyes is looking at the screen, technically you are escaping the physical world around you. And in this virtural cyber world, everyone in some way is equal, no matter where you are and what you dress.
